Wow, 2 updates in 2 days, but there may not be many updates for a week or two, as it's getting into the Christmas season (in case you hadn't noticed) and university students are going home, meaning that they tend to lose email access for a few weeks. I've also got A level modules to revise for (really must start this), and a couple of projects to be doing, ArmSI4, Kidsbase and Tellomere. Never fear though, I'll be back with more news and updates in the New Year.

Another new version, 0.29.3 of MAME, the arcade emulator has been released, this consists of several bug fixes to mouse control, sound, and a 'dirty buffering technique' to speed up many games.

It really is quite amazing how little feedback I get about this page - with normally more than 50 visitors a day, downloading emulators and software, it surprises me that I only get 1-2 emails from people, and normally the same people. If you want me to continue developing this page, take a few minutes to tell me what you think of it, tell me any suggestions, and tell me about how fast/slow emulators work on your Acorn, or which are the really good games that you've managed to get going under the emulators. I'm willing to work hard on this site, but I can't do it all myself!

STem, the Atari ST emulator, is under pretty hefty development to improve its speed performance by changing the way that 68000 instructions are decoded, from lots of code, to a massive lookup table which should be a fair bit faster, as there is less memory access, and less ARM instructions need to be executed, look out for it in the next few weeks.

I've managed to locate a demo of the commercial BreadBox64 Commodore 64 emulator, it runs a lot fast than Frodo, and seems a fairly decent emulator, take a look! I've added a new screenshot of Frodo, this time actually running something, and a quick step-by-step guide of how to get programs running under RISC OS Frodo.

Paul Clifford's PC Engine emulator, being developed especially for the ARM, consisting mainly of a dynamic recompiler, should be near finishing in the next few weeks - if Christmas doesn't get in the way! I must say thanks to Paul for sending me a copy of the source of his Gameboy dynamic recompiler attempt - very interesting.

I've added links to 2 Megadrive ROM sites. Added a link to a PC Engine ROM site. Also added a selection of banner links concerning emulation, starting with the Legalize 8 Bit ROMs campaign. I've added Chris Meighan's (Atari 2600) email address to the email address page.
