PDP-1

As far as I can make out, it seems the main purpose in emulating the PDP-1 is to play the game spacewar, extract from the jargon file:

<SPACEWAR> n. A space-combat simulation game (based on E. E. "Doc" Smith's `Lensman' books) first implemented on the PDP-1 at MIT in 1960-61. SPACEWAR aficionados formed the core of the early hacker culture at MIT. Ten years later a descendant of the game motivated Ken Thompson to build, in his spare time on a scavenged PDP-7, the operating system that became UNIX. Ten years after that, SPACEWAR was commercialized as one of the first video games; descendants are still feeping in video arcades everywhere.

M.E.S.S.

Above you can see spacewar, hardly something to write home about but at 84% of the normal speed is quite respectable and seems to be emulated to a decent standard.

Speed Rating: StrongARM Perfect
