Other Developments

In cooperation with Citrix, Acorn have produced a WinFrame client for ARM systems. This allows the client to run applications remotely on an Windows NT server. The system is flexible about the link between client and server; everything from LAN to modem is possible.
Acorn have also implemented the h263 video codec, allowing NCs to be used for Video Conferencing over standard telephone lines.
Finally, Acorn are working with a "major UK company" on speech synthesis and recognition. An announcement is promised soon, and the technology is expected to come to market in '99.
