The Medi - Press Release

MicroDigital, the technical arm of the Focus IT group, has announced "Medi" - a new RISC OS desktop computer. Based on the ARM 7500FE processor clocked at 48MHz, it runs Acorn's RISC OS 3.60.

Medi's innovative colour-coordinated blue and green livery is specifically aimed at home and educational users. It will also find favour with the completely new market formed from the growing ranks of disenchanted PC users, who have grown tired of paying out in a vain attempt to keep up with processor design and operating system changes.

Medi is designed to run the vast array of RISC OS software titles, and make use of the hardware upgrades currently on the market. The Medi computer incorporates 8Mb RAM, a 1.6Mbyte floppy disc drive, an 80Mbyte hard disc drive, IDEFS filing system (which supports drive partitions, together with 4 layers of protection: read/write, read only, no access and password), a 24 speed CD ROM drive, an internal 8 bit sound recorder with microphone, a 2 slot 4 layer backplane and a 15 inch high resolution colour monitor all as standard equipment. David Atkins described the Medi computer as "an attractive package offering quality, compatibility, performance and value for money".

The Medi computer retails at £999.00 excluding VAT, and will be available in August. For further details, contact David Atkins on 01274 618774 or e-mail [email protected].
