Phoebe 2100: Castle Technology
Wakefield '98
- Castle Technology intend to supply a PCI-based SCSI interface.
- The company has two options, either to buy an existing PCI SCSI card and develop Acorn drivers, or to develop both hardware and software.
- The decision on which route to take will be based on the feasibility of producing competitively-priced hardware.
- Producing hardware in-house would have the advantage of allowing Castle to sell to the PC market as well.
- If existing hardware is used, the choice of card will be important. Evaluation work will be required to discover which interface is able to deliver the best performance in Phoebe, as opposed to in a PC.
