Title screen from Christmas lemmingsThrough the early 90s rumours were heard about this fabled software, that would allow the tormented Acorn users to play the games their amiga-owning friends were playing, like Street Fighter 2 and Final Fight (to name but 2). The amiga has died out, but Acorn are still going strong, and finally we can play those games.

Before you get too excited, to run UAE you will need a Risc PC with at least 12Mb of RAM, and 1Mb VRAM is recommended - that rules me and my A5000 out! Further development of this emulator is unlikely, because of the immense amount of time this would take, although there is the possibility of Peter improving the keyboard handling in order to make it respond more quickly (especially on an Arm 610).

A level from christmas lemmingsThis is a port of the Unix Amiga Emulator (UAE), I understand it emulates an Amiga 500 with a 2Mb chip, and upto 11.8Mb of RAM. This is ported by Peter Teichman or this email address

With an Arm610 it is not very fast, around 1/6 of Amiga 500 original speed, in Games and Demos slower, around 1/30. A Strongarm is about 5-8 times faster, and now also works fine. Unfortunately, emulation is by no means perfect, so don't be too disappointed if your favourite game won't run.

Speed Rating: ARM 3 Fails, ARM 6 - Too Slow, ARM 7 - Slow, StrongARM - Slow
