This is an emulator for the Amstrad CPC (Colour Personal Computer),a Z80 4Mhz based 8 bit computer that has hi-res graphics and a disk drive. It emulates upto 128Kb RAM, 2 disk drives and different formats and supports full sound emulation. This emulator is multi-tasking (see screenshot below), and is a very nice emulation system. With the code not being pre-assembled, it also makes an interesting programming study.
CPCXtract is provided as an extra program to enable the user to get images from there old CPC (if it has a 3.5" disk drive) onto their acorn.
Thanks go to Adam Hay for informing me that this emulator works at a reasonable speed, even on his A3010 with 2Mb of RAM. I have tested it on my A5000, and it works fine here also.

There
is also a freeware emulator, that was originally shareware, written by
Mark Rison. The current version is
1996-07-28, but it looks like development of this emulator may be coming
to an end as a result of Mark getting a job at Acorn. Still, this emulator
appears to be pretty good, but unfortunately takes a little putting together.
Mark is looking for an enthusiastic programmer to take over his project,
and develop it further. Try it out from his page.
